Ridiculous.

One short post for today, featuring how absurd Harold is.
Has anyone else noticed how many stories the boy has? Forget how many times he’s lost his phone, wallet, or keys.. let’s talk about his stories.
Today I mentioned how I like Gilbert O’Sullivan’s song “Alone Again, Naturally”.. just a casual comment to be made in passing. You know the type, not really meant to go anywhere… you’re just sayin. Not with this bro. His response to my afterthought was, “Did you know my friend Chelsea and I once wrote a song on Gilbert O’Sullivan’s piano?”
You’d like to be annoyed because his stories seem to be just a little unlikely or maybe you’re just suspicious that he’s a pathological one-upper. But no, you know he’s no liar and that his stories just happen to always be true.

He’s just so incorrigible.
Not really, I just always look for an opportunity to use that word and never seem to find one.

Baby New Year

Yeah, yeah. More importantly, happy birthday to my dear old Pops!
We spent the evening with Mandy & Gabe in Nashville and I was able to try out my skills on two turntables and a microphone. (Anybody?) Happy 2009 and all that jazz!

I’m attempting the photo-a-day thing, but it is more like 3ish photos per weekish. (See “Flickr Two“).
The hair brushing phase is fading fast.

Leaving old Kan-tuck the weekend of the 23rd,
maybe I should begin to think about packing.
Ah, but that’s so boring, I’d rather blog and play Super Smash Brothers.

No doubt about toast.

Merry belated Christmas!
Harold and I spent it in Louisville with his family and had a wonderful time!
After saying goodbye to his family we went to eat at a restaurant downtown called Toast on Market. I ordered:
one lemon souffle pancake a la carte
the fruit cup
scrambled eggs
and a cup of coffee.. Harold had the Mediterranean omelet and a cup of coffee.. all were amazing! If you’re ever in the area, you should stop in. There was also a cute floral shop handily down the street..the owner gave me a free orchid!

Today we went to see the movie Doubt and I would say it gets a 7ish out of 10 in my book, which I know you all rely on. The acting was really well done and the story was interesting, but we both agreed it left us wanting more. Even so, I could easily recommend it if you want something without naked bodies, stupid or crude humor, people being slaughtered right and left, etc. etc. etc.

My hair has not been brushed in the past two years. I bought a brush tonight with hopes of beginning to groom my mangled locks from now on. We’ll see!

Moving oh so soon…it’s always bittersweet!

Hello!

To begin, let’s read an excerpt from one of my favorite books:

A Hole Is To Dig by Ruth Krauss

Mashed potatoes are to give everybody enough
A face is so you can make a face
A face is something to have on the front of your head
Dogs are to kiss people

Hands are to hold
A hand is to hold up when you want your turn
A hole is to dig

The ground is to make a garden
Grass is to cut
Grass is to have on the ground with dirt under it and clover in it
Maybe you could hide things in a hole
A party is to say how-do-you-do and shake hands
A party is to make little children happy

Arms are to hug with
Toes are to wiggle
Ears are to wiggle

Mud is to jump in and slide in and yell doodleedoodleedoo
Ah-h-h-h!
Doodleedoodleedoo-oo!
A castle is to build in the sand
A hole is to sit in
A dream is to look at the night and see things

Snow is to roll in
Buttons are to keep people warm

The world is so you have something to stand on
The sun is to tell you when it’s every day
When you make your bed you get a star
Grr-r-r

Little stones are for little children to gather up and put in little piles
Oo! A rock is when you trip on it you should have watched where you were going
Children are to love
A brother is to help you
A principal is to take out splinters

A mountain is to go to the top
A mountain is to go to the bottom

A lap is so you don’t get crumbs on the floor
A mustache is to wear on halloween
A hat is to wear on a train

Toes are to dance on
Eyebrows are to go over your eyes
A sea shell is to hear the sea
Big shells are to put little shell in

A hole is to plant a flower
A watch is to hear it tick
Dishes are to do
Cats are so you can have kittens
Mice are to eat your cheese

Noses are to rub
A nose is to blow
A match is to blow
A whistle is to make people jump

Rugs are so you don’t get splinters in you
Boodlyboodlyboodly
A floor is so you don’t fall in the hole your house is in
Hunh! Rugs are so dogs have napkins
A hole is for a mouse to live in

A door is to open
A door is to shut
A hole is to look through
Steps are to sit on
A hole is when you step in it you go down

Hands are to make things
Hands are to eat with
A tablespoon is to eat a table with
A package is to look inside

The sun is so it can be a great day
A book is to look at.
